How to Check Your Prelims Result Status

  1. Go to ibps.in, CRP Specialist Officer XVI page.
  2. Click the link titled Result Status of Online Preliminary Examination for CRP-SPL-XVI.
  3. Enter the login details the page asks for (from your application registration) and the security code.
  4. Read the status shown, and take a screenshot or printout for your records.

In the prelims, a candidate has to clear each of the four tests by meeting cut-off marks decided by IBPS. Being above the overall cut-off is not enough if one section falls short.

Mains Exam Pattern

IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer:

TestQuestionsMarksTime
English Language303025 min
Reasoning404035 min
Quantitative Aptitude303025 min
Professional Knowledge (objective)5010040 min
Descriptive Paper (English)22530 min
Total225155 min

For these four posts, the notification says that every Mains test except Professional Knowledge is qualifying in nature. Your specialist subject knowledge therefore carries the real weight.

Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari: the objective part has English Language (30 questions, 25 minutes), Reasoning (40 questions, 35 minutes), General Awareness with Special Reference to Banking Industry (30 questions, 20 minutes) and Professional Knowledge (50 questions, 100 marks, 45 minutes), which adds up to 150 questions and 200 marks in 125 minutes. A further descriptive paper of 2 questions for 25 marks (30 minutes) takes the total to 225 marks and 155 minutes.

Each wrong answer in an objective test costs one-fourth of the marks of that question. Unanswered questions carry no penalty. Scores from different sessions are normalised using the equi-percentile method.

Interview and Final Selection

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of Mains marks are called for a common interview, run by the participating banks and coordinated by Nodal Banks with IBPS. The interview is out of 100, and the minimum qualifying mark is 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates). The final score combines Mains and interview in the ratio 80:20. Only Mains marks count for interview shortlisting and merit; prelims marks are not added. IBPS will not share Mains scores until the interview process is over.

The pay scale listed in the notification for Specialist Officers Scale I is 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920, plus allowances as per the rules of the allotted bank.

Documents to Keep Ready for Later Stages

  • Printouts of your online application form and, later, the interview call letter.
  • Proof of date of birth (birth certificate or Class X certificate showing DOB).
  • Photo identity proof as specified in the notification.
  • Mark sheets and certificates of the qualifying degree. The result must have been declared on or before 21 July 2026.
  • Category, EWS or disability certificates in the formats attached to the notification, if applicable.

IBPS also says shortlisted candidates must upload soft copies of eligibility documents (in PDF format) through a link on its website. If you need to resize scans, our photo and signature resizer can help.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Preparing only general sections for Mains. For most posts, only Professional Knowledge decides the merit.
  • Ignoring the descriptive paper, which still needs proper practice.
  • Waiting for certificates until the interview call. Arrange category and degree documents now.
  • Relying on unofficial result links; always log in through ibps.in.

What Happens Next

Qualified candidates should look for the Mains call letter on the same IBPS page. As per the notification schedule, Mains is planned for November 2026 (tentative). For background on how IBPS and SBI recruitment fit together, read our guide to bank jobs in India.
