The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the call letter for the Online Main Examination of CRP SPL-XVI, the common recruitment process for Scale I Specialist Officers in public sector banks. The link was added to the CRP Specialist Officer XVI page on ibps.in on 22 October 2026. On the same day IBPS also posted the prelims scores, a note on how the scores are worked out, an information handout for the Main exam (in English and Hindi), scribe guidelines and the online scribe declaration form.

Only candidates who were declared qualified in the prelims (result status link posted on 15 October 2026) can download the Mains call letter. The recruitment covers 1,035 vacancies across six streams: IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Law Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer.

How to Download the IBPS SO Mains Call Letter

  1. Open ibps.in and go to CRP Specialist Officers, then Specialist Officer XVI.
  2. Click the link titled Online Main Exam Call Letter for CRP-SPL-XVI (dated 22 October 2026).
  3. Log in with your Registration Number and Password or Date of Birth, and enter the captcha.
  4. If you opted for a scribe in your application, fill in the scribe details when asked and download the scribe declaration form as well.
  5. Download the call letter, check every detail, and take a clear colour print. Also download the Information Handout from the same page and read it fully.

IBPS does not send call letters or handouts by post or courier. Intimations go only by email and SMS to the contact details you registered, so make sure you check them.

What to Carry on Main Exam Day

According to the CRP SPL-XVI notification, you will not be allowed into the Main exam without the following:

  • The Main exam call letter with one photograph pasted on it.
  • One extra photograph, the same as the one pasted on the call letter.
  • The Preliminary exam call letter that was stamped at your prelims venue, along with the stamped photocopy of your ID proof.
  • Your original photo identity proof with exactly the same name as on the call letter, plus a photocopy of it.
  • For scribe users: the filled-in scribe declaration form.

Accepted photo IDs listed in the notification include PAN card, passport, permanent driving licence with photograph, bank passbook with photograph, Aadhaar or e-Aadhaar with photograph, college or university identity card, employee ID, Bar Council identity card with photograph, or a photo identity proof issued by a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead. IBPS also advises candidates to keep about eight copies of the same photograph used in the application, as it will be needed at later stages too.

Biometric Check and Banned Items

Your photograph and thumb impression may be captured and matched with your application at the venue. Do not change your appearance from the uploaded photograph, and wash off ink, mehndi or any coating on your fingers before exam day. Refusing biometric capture can lead to cancellation of candidature.

Leave these at home or outside the centre: mobile phones, earphones, Bluetooth devices, smart bands, any watch, calculators, pen drives, papers or stationery boxes, handbags, goggles, belts, caps, hair-pins, metallic items, and food or water bottles. Ornaments are checked closely. IBPS says it cannot take responsibility for safekeeping of personal belongings.

Mains Exam Structure at a Glance

For all six posts the Main exam has an objective part of 150 questions for 200 marks in 125 minutes and a descriptive paper of 2 questions for 25 marks in 30 minutes, making 225 marks in 155 minutes. Each wrong objective answer costs one-fourth of the marks of that question. For IT, AFO, HR and Marketing Officer, all tests except Professional Knowledge are qualifying. Our IBPS SO prelims result post has the full section-wise table for each post.

IBPS sets a minimum score for every Mains test, and candidates also need a high enough Professional Knowledge score to be called for interview. Mains scores are not shared with shortlisted candidates until the interview process is complete.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Forgetting the stamped prelims call letter and ID photocopy, which the notification treats as compulsory.
  • Carrying an ID whose name spelling differs from the call letter.
  • Reaching after the reporting time. Late candidates are not allowed to take the test.
  • Ignoring the descriptive paper. It carries 25 marks and needs regular writing practice.
  • Downloading the call letter from unofficial links instead of ibps.in.

What Happens Next

After the Main exam, IBPS will publish the Mains result on the same page. Shortlisted candidates will then download interview call letters and upload soft copies of eligibility documents through a link IBPS will provide. The interview carries 100 marks and the final merit is worked out in the ratio 80:20 (Mains to interview). To prepare scans of your photo and signature in the right size, you can use our photo and signature resizer.
